Private pay / self-pay therapy · Binghamton, New York
Private-pay therapy with clear rates and a simple path to start.
Use private pay when you prefer not to bill insurance or when the service you want is offered outside insurance. PCW publishes rates up front and accepts cash, check, Health Savings Account (HSA), Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.
What private pay means at PCW
Pay the published rate without billing insurance.
Private pay—also called self-pay or out-of-pocket therapy—means you pay PCW directly rather than having the session billed to an insurance plan. It can be used for individual therapy, ART, and couples counseling at PCW.
Choosing private pay does not promise better care, faster results, less clinical documentation, or a fixed number of sessions. The same clinical, consent, documentation, privacy, and legal requirements still apply.
Payment methods

When telehealth is clinically appropriate, the client must be physically located in New York State at the time of the session.

Private-pay questions
Direct answers before you schedule.
Can I see PCW without using insurance?
Yes. Private pay is available for individual therapy, ART, and couples counseling. You can choose not to have an eligible service billed to insurance and instead pay the published private-pay rate.
Can I use an HSA?
PCW accepts Health Savings Account (HSA) payments along with cash, check, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa. Your HSA plan administrator can answer questions about whether a particular expense is eligible under your plan.
Does private-pay ART require an intake appointment?
No separate intake appointment is required for the private-pay ART pathway. PCW still reviews clinical appropriateness and completes the consent process. If ART is billed to insurance, an intake and clinical assessment are required first.
Is couples counseling private pay?
Yes. Couples counseling at PCW is private pay rather than billed to insurance. Current 60-minute, 90-minute, and package rates are listed above.
Can I request a Good Faith Estimate?
Yes. If you are uninsured or do not plan to use insurance, federal law generally gives you the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate when you schedule care or ask for one. Learn about Good Faith Estimates from CMS (opens in a new tab).
Does paying privately change confidentiality or recordkeeping?
No special confidentiality promise is created by private pay. Clinical documentation, informed consent, privacy practices, and applicable legal and professional requirements still apply.
